Kelowna Chiefs hiring Head Coach & GM

The Kelowna Chiefs Junior Hockey Club is seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join our team in the role of Head Coach & General Manager.

The successful candidate will be the key leader of our organization’s Hockey Operations department, preparing our players to succeed on the ice while building a roster that maximizes Central Okanagan talent and managing our athlete development and advancement programs.

Position Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement strategic plans for player development, team performance, and recruitment.
  2. Provide leadership and direction to coaching staff, players, and support staff.
  3. Design and execute effective training programs to enhance players’ skills, fitness, and teamwork.
  4. Scout and recruit talented players to build a competitive and citizenship driven roster.
  5. Manage team budgets, travel arrangements, and equipment procurement.
  6. Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that promotes competitive sportsmanship, discipline, and respect for all.
  7. Represent the Kelowna Chiefs in league meetings, community events, and media engagements.
  8. Ensure compliance with league regulations, safety protocols, and organizational policies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Coaching experience in junior or collegiate hockey.
  2. Certification in Hockey Canada’s High Performance 1 coaching program.
  3. Proven track record of success in player recruitment, development and team management.
  4. Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  5. Extensive knowledge of modern & technical hockey strategy, tactics, and training methods including video analysis and analytics.
  6. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and travel.
  7. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
