Luke Chakrabarti (Creston Valley Thunder Cats), Brandon Gallo (Revelstoke Grizzlies) and Jacob Burnside (Creston Valley Thunder Cats) are the Instat Kootenay International Junior Hockey League 3 Stars of the Week, for the period ending Oct. 16.
Chakrabarti – Top Forward – The Whiterock, B.C. product racked up six goals and eight points in three games, to help the Thunder Cats win all of their games over the weekend. Chakrabarti began with a hat-trick performance in a 5-3 win over the Osoyoos Coyotes on Friday. He netted the winner in that game. On Saturday, against the Summerland Steam he scored two goals and added an assist. In a 2-1 win over the North Okanagan Knights on Sunday, Chakrabarti had a goal and assisted on the winner. In five games, Chakrabarti has eight goals and 11 assists to lead the Thunder Cats.
Gallo – Top Defenceman – The St. Albert, Alberta product has earned his second Top Defenceman honour of the season. Gallo had four assists in two games for the Grizzlies, who earned three of four points in two games against the 100 Mile House Wranglers in a shootout loss and win. Gallo had a pair of assists in each game. In seven games, Gallo has a goal and 12 points to lead the Grizzlies.
Burnside – Top Goalie – The Heritage Point, Alberta product earned his first junior hockey wins on the weekend against Osoyoos and North Okanagan. Against Osoyoos, Burnside made 37 of 40 saves, including stopping all 13 shots he faced in the third period. Against North Okanagan, Burnside turned aside 30 of 31 shots faced. In total, Burnside made 67 saves on 71 shots for a .944 save percentage and a 2.00 GAA.
