Tristan Weill (Kimberley Dynamiters), Max Chakrabarti (Creston Valley Thunder Cats) and Hunter Arntsen (Osoyoos Coyotes) have been selected the Hudl Instat Kootenay International Junior Hockey League 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending Dec 3.
Weill – Top Forward – The West Kelowna product helped the Dynamiters win two of their three games by scoring three goals and adding five assists. In their 3-2 win against Spokane, Weill had two assists, including on the winner. In their 4-1 loss to Grand Forks, Weill scored the lone goal, and in their 6-4 win over Princeton, Weill scored twice, including the winner, and added three assists for a five-point performance. In 24 games, Weill leads the KIJHL with 25 goals and 25 assists for 50 points. He is three points away from tying his single-season high of 53 with the Summerland Steam in the 2021-22 season. This is the third time that Weill has been named the Top Forward, the first being on Oct. 3 and then on Nov. 12.
Chakrabarti – Top Defenceman – The Surrey, B.C. product had a goal and four assists to help the Thunder Cats win two of their three games on the weekend. On Dec. 1, a 5-3 loss to Princeton, Chakrabarti had an assist. In their 6-3 win over Beaver Valley, Chakrabarti had a goal and three assists and set up his brother Luke for the winning goal. In their 4-3 shootout win over Columbia Valley, he had an even rating. Over the three games, Chakrabarti finished plus-2. In 20 games, Chakrabarti has four goals and 21 points and is plus-9 on the season. His 21 points ranks second in the KIJHL among defencemen. He recently represented the KIJHL for the second time in the BCHC Prospects Game in Kamloops.
Arntsen – Top Goalie – The Dinsmore, Sask. product helped the Coyotes earn back-to-back wins against the Kelowna Chiefs over the weekend. On Dec.1, Arntsen earned his first career KIJHL shutout with a 36-save performance in a 3-0 win. Then on Dec. 3, Arntsen stopped 31 shots in a 4-1 win. In the two games, he stopped 67 of 68 shots and finished with a .985 save percentage and a 0.50 goals against average. For the season, Arntsen has five wins in 16 games, with a .911 SP and a 3.56 GAA.
