Peyton Trzaska of the Princeton Posse, Jacob Biensch of the Chase Heat and Dylan Malarchuk of the Columbia Valley Rockies have been named the Instat Kootenay International Junior Hockey League’s 3 Stars of the Week, for the period ending Feb. 6.
Biensch – Top Forward – The Marsden, Saskatchewan product popped in eight goals and had two assists for 10 points in four games for the Heat helping them earn a split in four games. Biensch’s week was highlighted by a four-goal, five-point night against the 100 Mile House Wranglers in which he scored two short-handed goals. In 33 games, Biensch has 25 goals, 23 assists for 48 points – which ranks him fourth overall in the league.
Malarchuk – Top Defenceman – The Calgary, Alberta product had two goals, five assists for seven points in three games for the Rockies, helping lead them to wins over Creston Valley and Golden twice. In 33 games, Malarchuk has 12 goals and 19 assists for 31 points, which ranks him second overall among KIJHL defencemen in points. He leads all defencemen in goals.
Trzaska – Top Goalie – The Drayton Valley, Alberta product helped the Posse in their playoff push with three straight wins. Trzaska turned aside 33 of 34 shots against the North Okanagan Knights, earned a 25-save shutout against the Summerland Steam and finished up by making 33 saves on 35 shots against the Kelowna Chiefs. In total, the six-foot, 180 pound goalie made 91 saves on 94 shots for a .968 SP and a 0.97 GAA. Trzaska is on a four-game win streak and has eight wins in 15 games with a .916 SP and a 3.19 GAA.
