Jared Houseman announced as new Rockets head coach-GM

Golden, BC. – The Golden Rockets are excited to confirm the hiring of Jared (Jed) Houseman as their new Head Coach & General Manager. Jed moves into their top coaching leadership role after spending two years working with the Rockets as an Assistant Coach.

Houseman brings with him a wealth of tactical and technical knowledge from many years as a player in the Sask Valley Hockey League, playing with and against numerous NHL, AHL, WHL, USport, NCAA athletes, and coaching for Team Saskatchewan, mentoring and evaluating hockey performance for national tournaments.

“We are looking forward to the 2024/2025 season with Jed taking the reins as the Head Coach. Jed has gathered a strong team on the bench to share the load,” says Rockets President Marko Shehovac. “Fans can expect an exciting and winning team with the players Jed will be busy recruiting.”

Since moving to Golden, Jed has continued his professional development through attending the NHLCA Global Coaches conference, achieving his Development 1 and High Performance coaching qualifications. He has also been approached by BC Hockey to work at a provincial level as an evaluator for their Program of Excellence.

Jed, his wife Dani and three-year-old daughter Brynn, are valuable members making the Golden community home three years ago.

Jed is committed to using his skill development experience and network connections throughout North America to create a winning team and culture, and is invested in evolving the Rockets program to the highest level.
