Deadline for Remembering Grant Sheridan Scholarship is March 31

The deadline for Kootenay International Junior Hockey League players to apply for the Remembering Grant Sheridan Scholarship is March 31.

Myles Mattila, founder of the Remembering Grant Sheridan Scholarship and MindRight for Athletes Society, will be awarding the scholarship on April 30.

Donations are always being accepted to reach the goal of $15,000 to award money over the next 10 years. To date, the scholarship fund has received $4,544. In January, KIJHL commissioner Larry Martel presented Mattila with a cheque for $2,500.

“Thank you to Larry Martel and the KIJHL for your support towards Remembering Grant Sheridan Scholarship,” said Mattila. “The scholarship will be recognizing an individual who promotes educational achievement, community involvement and hockey commitment.”

Launched in September, the scholarship is available to all KIJHL players.
