Border Bruins’ Gorrill signs with ACAC Voyageurs

Grand Forks Border Bruin Karsten Gorrill is joining teammate Matteus Reis to play for the Portage College Voyageurs in the Alberta Colleges Athletics Conference next fall.

Gorrill played 86 career KIJHL games in the regular season and playoffs combined with Kimberley, Creston Valley, then finishing with Grand Forks. He recorded eight goals and 25 points.

“I am really excited to have committed to Portage College to further my education while getting the opportunity to continue to play hockey at a higher level,” said Gorrill. “The Border Bruins culture helped me excel in all aspects of my game and I got stronger throughout the year because I had such a great coaching staff and owner.”

Border Bruins Head Coach-GM Dave Hnatiuk is happy to see the Moose Jaw product and former Notre Dame Hound earn this opportunity.

“Balancing hockey and academics will be very familiar to him,” said Hnatiuk, because of his time at Notre Dame. “He is a great teammate, hard worker on- and off-the-ice and his speed will serve him well in the ACAC. He was a positive addition to our team and his game took a big step forward late in the year and I expect his game to continue going that way moving forward.”
