Chakrabarti, Edwards and Shebansky named Instat KIJHL 3 Stars of the Week

 

Luke Chakrabarti (Creston Valley Thunder Cats), Ben Edwards (Grand Forks Border Bruins) and Ethan Shebansky (Grand Forks Border Bruins) have been selected as the Instat Kootenay International Junior Hockey League 3 Stars of the Week, for the period ending Oct. 23, 2022.

Chakrabarti – Top Forward – For the second straight week, the Whiterock, B.C. product gets this recognition after netting four goals and three assists in two games. Chakrabarti was key in the Thunder Cats picking up wins against the Kimberley Dynamiters and Golden Rockets. Against the Dynamiters, Charkabarti assisted on the winning goal and added two assists. Against the Rockets, Chakrabarti enjoyed a four-goal night, which included scoring the winner. Chakrabarti leads the Thunder Cats with 12 goals and 18 points in seven games.

Edwards – Top Defenceman – Local product Ben Edwards had a goal and six assists to help the Border Bruins win four straight games last week. He assisted on the tying goal to make it 6-6 against Nelson, and had a goal and two assists against Chase. He assisted on the goal that gave Grand Forks a 2-0 lead on Kamloops and two assists against 100 Mile House. Edwards is third on the team in points with two goals and 13 points in 11 games.

Shebansky – Top Goalie – The Edmonton, Alberta product won three of the four games he played. Shebansky stopped 109 of 115 shots for a .948 save percentage and 1.87 goals against average. He made 25 saves in 34:35 of action to earn an OT win against Nelson, then made 36 saves in a win against Chase and 33 in a win against Kamloops. Shebansky stopped 15 of 16 shots against 100 Mile House before sustaining an injury. In nine games, Shebansky has six wins to go with a .930 SP and a 2.44 GAA.
