Posse’s Olsen signs with MHL’s Western Capitals

Princeton Posse rookie forward Ty Olsen has signed to play for the Summerside Western Capitals in the Maritime Junior Hockey League.

Olsen, 19, joined the Posse from the Sherwood Park Kings U18 AAA program and had 15 goals and 31 points in 32 games. He added five points in 13 KIJHL Teck Cup championship games.

Olsen is looking forward to playing at the next level with the Western Capitals.

“I would like to thank the Princeton Posse and the KIJHL for the great introduction to life as a junior hockey player,” he said. “I made many lifelong friends and know the hard work you have to put in if you want to succeed. I will never forget my time in Princeton.”

“Ty was one of the many standout first-year players on our roster. Before an injury late in the season, Olsen’s impact was felt on a nightly basis,” said Posse Head Coach Mark Readman. “Ty plays a highly skilled game with an elusive release on a powerful shot, but he also worked really hard on bringing an everyday consistency and intensity to round out his game.”

Readman added that Olsen became a versatile weapon throughout the season and to see his hard work be rewarded by committing to an excellent program like the Western Capitals is great to see.
