The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League is excited to unveil its first Team of the Week for the 2025-26 season. Each week, the honour will highlight three forwards, two defencemen, and one goaltender for their standout performances.
Here is the team for the period ending Sept. 21, 2025:
Forwards
Liam Munro – Creston Valley Thunder Cats
Munro was involved in all of Creston Valley’s offence during a 4-2 loss to the Fernie Ghostriders, then played a pivotal role in a dramatic comeback win over the Columbia Valley Rockies. Trailing 3-0, the Thunder Cats rallied behind Munro’s three-point effort, which included the game-winner. The veteran forward is now just 14 points away from reaching 100 in his KIJHL career.
Luca D’Amore – Kamloops Storm
D’Amore was a key factor in the Storm’s home-and-home sweep of the Chase Heat, collecting two goals and three assists. In the opener, the Kamloops product set up two goals, including one that gave the Storm a 2-0 lead. He followed that up in an 11-5 win with the game-winning goal, plus another tally and an assist.
Travis Langlois – Merritt Centennials
Langlois chipped in an assist in a 5-2 loss to the Quesnel River Rush, then helped the Centennials rebound with a big performance. He scored twice—one shorthanded—and added an assist in a 5-3 victory over the Williams Lake Mustangs.

Defence
Russell Weatherhead – Osoyoos Coyotes
Weatherhead powered the Coyotes to their first win of the season with a two-goal, one-assist effort in a 4-2 victory over the 100 Mile House Wranglers. The Summerland, B.C. blueliner assisted on the opening goal before scoring on the power play for the insurance marker in the second period.
Garrett Janzen – Grand Forks Border Bruins
The rookie defenceman made an immediate impact for the defending KIJHL champions. Janzen scored the opening goal on banner-raising night and added two assists, including on Nash Wassing’s game-winner, to help secure a 7-2 Border Bruins victory.
Goaltender
Beck Boiteau – Golden Rockets
Boiteau shined in his KIJHL debut, turning aside 45 of 47 shots against the Revelstoke Grizzlies through regulation and overtime before stopping all five shootout attempts in a 3-2 Rockets win. The Everett Silvertips draft pick had a 1.85 goals-against average and a sparkling .957 save percentage.
