The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League is pleased to announce its Team of the Week for the period ending Jan.18.
Forwards
Diego Cazac – Quesnel River Rush
The Calgary native had five points – all assists – in two games, but it was against his former team – the 100 Mile House Wranglers that he had an excellent performance. He collected four assists in their 4-3 overtime win, setting up Gage Parrell’s winner. Cazac was +3 and played an average of 25:42.
Jett Patola – Revelstoke Grizzlies
The Calgary native had two goals and three assists in two games. In their 5-0 win over the Osoyoos Coyotes, Patola scored short-handed and had an assist. In their 7-3 win over the Nelson Leafs, Patola had a goal and three points, including setting up the insurance goal. He played an average of 17:07 a game and was +5 and wasn’t on the ice for a goal against.
Cooper Thompson – Golden Rockets
The Adrossan, Alta., native had two goals and four points in two games. Against the Leafs in a 6-1 win, Thompson was in on all three first-period goals. He started the play to set up Brayden Bissell’s winner and his goal came on the power-play. He was +6 playing an average of 20:18 a game.
Defenceman
Kieran Thibault – Kamloops Storm
The hometown product assisted on the 3-1 goal, then the winning tally against the 100 Mile House Wranglers in a 6-3 victory. Against the Columbia Valley Rockies, Thibault displayed his ability to find open space and score the overtime winner in a 5-4 final. He was +3 and played an average of 20:18 a game.
Logan Findlay – Creston Valley Thunder Cats
The St. Albert, Alta., native scored two of their goals in a 6-3 loss to the Grand Forks Border Bruins and was +1 while playing 24:33. Findlay has 21 points in 28 games in his first season.
Goalie
Jaiden Jakubowski – Spokane Braves
The Okanagan Falls, B.C. resident had a memorable home debut as he was excellent against the Fernie Ghostriders with a 40-save shutout performance. He helped his team earn a 1-0 win as the Ghostriders pressured, firing 18 shots on goal in the third period.
