Taylor Haggerty (Fernie Ghostriders), Lohgan Nimmo (Beaver Valley Nitehawks) and Luke Roberts (Chase Heat) have been selected the Hudl Instat Kootenay International Junior Hockey League 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending Jan. 14/24.
Haggerty – Top Forward – The Sherwood Park, Alta., product had three goals and two assists to help the Ghostriders win their three games. Haggerty had two assists in their 5-3 win over Creston Valley. Against Columbia Valley, he scored first, then gave his team a 2-0 lead in a 4-2 win, and against Castlegar, Haggerty’s third goal of the week was the winner in a 6-3 final. It’s the second Top Forward selection of the season for Haggerty. In 34 games, Haggerty leads the Ghostriders with 51 points, which is tied for second in the league.
Nimmo – Top Defenceman – The Mayerthorpe, Alta., product had four goals and two assists to help the Nitehawks earn victories against Spokane and Kimberley. Against Spokane, Nimmo had four goals and one assist in their 14-1 win, and against Kimberley, he assisted on Will Caputo’s goal in a 5-2 final. Since joining the Nitehawks from the MJHL’s OCN Blizzard at the end of December, Nimmo has five goals and 10 points in five games.
Roberts – Top Goalie – The St. Alberta, Alta., product stopped 31 of 32 shots to help the Heat defeat the Kamloops Storm 2-1 on Jan. 13. Fourteen of Roberts’ saves came in the second period. He finished with a .969 save percentage and a 1.00 goals against average. It’s the second time Roberts has been named the Top Goalie, the first was on Dec. 17. In 13 games, Roberts has six wins with a .889 SP and a 3.92 GAA.
