KIJHL alumnus Shane Hanna is on pace for a career season with Starbulls Rosenheim in Germany’s DEL2 league.
The Osoyoos Coyotes alum (2010–11) has 11 goals and 21 assists for 32 points in 39 games, putting him on track to surpass last season’s totals of 37 points in 52 games.
“My season has been going pretty well, with room for improvement,” said Hanna, who is in his third season with Rosenheim.
Hanna’s strong play earned league-wide recognition in December, when he was named DEL2 Player of the Month after recording five goals and seven assists in 10 games.
“Team success brings personal success, and the team was playing really well during that stretch,” said Hanna, who also played 78 games in the American Hockey League with the Texas Stars from 2017 to 2019. “I kept trying to get better and the results came. I liked that I was able to contribute in a variety of ways and at the right times.”
Now, Hanna has his sights set on adding a third championship to his résumé. He previously won titles with Osoyoos and again in Denmark during the 2020–21 season. After an opening-round exit last year, Hanna hopes the Starbulls can take the next step and put themselves in position to compete for another championship.
