Nash Wassing of the Grand Forks Border Bruins is this week’s Young Guns selection after he scored five goals and added an assist in two games.
The Strathmore, Alta., native netted a hat-trick in Game 1 of their series against the Kimberley Dynamiters, then followed it up with two goals, including the winner, and an assist in Game 2.
“I was finding open ice really well and my teammates were able to make great plays to find me and thankfully I was able to put the puck in the net,” said Wassing. “I’ve felt great throughout the first two games of the series. They’ve been really fast paced and tough games, but I definitely have a ton of confidence right now so hopefully I can keep that up for the rest of the playoffs.”
Wassing has nine goals and 15 points in 12 KIJHL Teck Cup playoff games. During the regular season, the 6-4, 200-pound forward put up 15 goals and 30 points in 40 games – his first season in the KIJHL.
