Brandon Gray of the Grand Forks Border Bruins is this week’s Young Guns selection after scoring four goals and collecting three assists in two games.
Gray helped the Border Bruins defeat the Kimberley Dynamiters 5-2 on Dec. 6 with a goal and two assists. He then recorded a hat-trick, which included a short-handed goal, and an assist on Dec. 7 in a 10-6 win over the Kelowna Chiefs.
“My linemates (Levi Astill and Tyler Burke) contributed a lot and I was putting myself in the right spots to be effective,” said Gray, who recorded his third hat-trick since Nov. 1. “I think I’m more confident and I’m not freezing in those situations and overthinking things.
“Levi and Tyler are two really good players,” he continued. “It helps so much and makes it so much easier for me. I’m building chemistry with them which is also a big part of it.”
Gray is third on the Border Bruins with 31 points in 22 games and was also named the Top Forward for this week’s KIJHL 3 Stars of the Week.
