Wolverines like Thunder Cats’ O’Handley for his gritty style, size

Daniel O’Handley of the Creston Valley Thunder Cats has committed to play for the University of Flint-Michigan Wolverines in the American Collegiate Hockey Association Division 1 next fall.

The Adelaide, Australia native had 11 points in 38 games for the Thunder Cats. Over two seasons, the 6-1, 205-pound forward played in 76 regular season games and posted 23 points.

“We really like his presence on the ice. With his gritty style of play and size, he will be a very nice piece for us that can play up and down the lineup card,” said Wolverines head coach Nick Karstens.

The Wolverines were 11-24-0 last season and placed fifth among seven teams in the Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League. O’Handley is among KIJHL players that the Wolverines have recruited. O’Handley has also signed to play for his hometown Adelaide Adrenaline in the Australian Ice Hockey League in 2026.
