Storm’s Anderson signs with BCHL’s Grizzlies

Zakery Anderson of the Kamloops Storm has signed with the BCHL’s Victoria Grizzlies for next season.

As a rookie, Anderson put up 22 goals and 18 assists for 40 points, which ranked him 18th in the KIJHL and seventh among rookies. Those totals helped Anderson win the Rookie of the Year award in the Doug Birks Division.

“I feel like I played really well. My game from last year to this year definitely took a big step and it showed,” said Anderson.

Anderson said signing with the Grizzlies is a huge opportunity for himself and that he’s grateful to the organization for reaching out to give him this chance.

“They like my goal-scoring ability, and they think I can bring a lot to the table in that area,” said Anderson.

The Kamloops product earned a call-up to the BCHL this season, playing three games as an affiliate player with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks, scoring once. Anderson said the experience was fun.

“It was a great learning experience,” said Anderson. “Getting a little bit of experience in that league before next year was definitely a lot of help. I know what I’m going into there.”
