A group of KIJHL alumni are having strong seasons in the American Collegiate Hockey Association Division 1. This article highlights the top producing forward, defenceman, and two goalies, one who recently received a Goalie of the Week honour.
Warren Roberts-Lee, 20, (Sicamous Eagles) is averaging 1.42 points per game and has 27 points in 19 games for the Duquesne University Dukes (21 GP – 10 W – 9L – 1 SOW – 1 SOL). Of his 14 goals, two are game-winners. Roberts-Lee has been able to produce consistently for the Dukes and has only been held off the scoresheet in five games. The Beaumont, Alta., native began his collegiate career with points in four straight games.
Brandon Weare, 23, (Golden Rockets/Revelstoke Grizzlies) leads all goalies with 15 wins and has two shutouts with a 1.95 goals against average and a .929 save percentage. Weare is in his third season with the University of Jamestown Jimmies (23 GP – 16 W – 7 L). In 77 career games, the Calgary native has 57 wins to go with 19 shutouts, a 1.72 goals against average and a .937 save percentage.
Ethan McLaughlin, 24, (Summerland Steam/Nelson Leafs) has established a new career high in points with 17 in 19 games for the defending national champion, Adrian College Bulldogs (20 GP – 17 W – 1L – 1 OTL – 1 SOW – 1 SOL). The previous high for the Penticton, B.C. native was 14 points in 32 games in the 2022-23 season. McLaughlin opened the season with a four-assist performance and then on Dec. 5, McLaughlin had two goals and an assist.
Bulldogs goalie Noah Decottignies, 24, (Columbia Valley Rockies/Beaver Valley Nitehawks) was named the GL6 Hockey Conference Goalie of the Week on Nov. 20. Decottignies earned a 17-save shutout in his first game back in the Adrian lineup in a 3-0 win. The Calgary native has two wins in three games, both by shutout.
