Castlegar Rebels goalie Evan Leggett has committed to play for the Logan Lake Miners in the B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League next fall.
“I’m excited to be joining Logan Lake next season,” said Leggett. “Many notable KIJHL alumni play for their organization, and I’m looking forward to playing alongside such a talented group.”
The Williams Lake, B.C. native joined the Rebels from the Golden Rockets, and in eight games, went 5-2-0 with a 3.10 goals against average and .921 save percentage. He also played in two KIJHL Championship playoff games stopping 37 of 41 shots in 70 minutes of action for a 3.44 GAA and a .902 SP.
“As a group in Castlegar, we relied on team resilience. Coach Alex Evin pushed us to play a complete team game each time we stepped on the ice, and I think that mindset is what helped me get noticed by Logan Lake,” Leggett added.
“Evan was a great addition to our team and made our goaltending tandem a strength,” said Evin, head coach-assistant general manager. “He earned his place on our roster through hard work and full investment in our program. We are very proud of Evan and his advancement to the next level.”
Leggett dedicated time this season to improving his rush management and rebound control.
“I wanted to be a calm and consistent presence in goal, and I think I was able to achieve that,” he said.
Over three seasons in the KIJHL with the Sicamous Eagles, Williams Lake Mustangs, Rockets and Rebels, Leggett played 32 career regular season games and had a record of 13-14-0 with a 3.91 GAA and a .901 SP.
The Miners placed third in the BCIHL with a record of 8-10-0 and went 1-1 in the playoffs.
