Mealey, Percival & Trzaska named Instat KIJHL March 3 Stars

 

Christian Mealey (Kimberley Dynamiters), Kaleb Percival (Beaver Valley Nitehawks) and Peyton Trzaska (Princeton Posse) have been selected the Instat KIJHL 3 Stars of the Month for March.

Mealey – Top Forward – The Calgary product played a big part in helping the Dynamiters advance to the KIJHL Final and play for the Teck Cup. Mealey recorded nine goals and eight assists for 17 points in 12 games. The 6-1, 180-pound forward recorded six points in their win over Fernie in Game 4. Mealey then scored and assisted on the game winner against Fernie in Game 5.  In Game 7 versus Fernie, Mealey scored the game-winning goal. Against the Beaver Valley Nitehawks, Mealey netted the insurance goal in Game 2 and scored in Game 4 to help the Dynamiters sweep the Nitehawks. Mealey ranks fifth among playoff point producers with 10 goals and 11 assists for 21 points in 20 games.

Percival – Top Defenceman – The Nelson product played a key part in the Nitehawks advancing to the Kootenay Conference Final with three goals and seven assists in 11 games. Percival had two goals and seven assists against the Creston Valley Thunder Cats and scored the clinching goal in overtime. Against the Kimberley Dynamiters, Percival had a goal in four games and finished with five goals and 18 points in 17 games, ranking 13th among KIJHL playoff point producers.

Trzaska – Top Goalie – The Drayton Valley, Alberta product earned nine wins in 11 games to help the Posse advance to their first KIJHL Finals in the organization’s 20-year history. Trzaska made 357 saves on 378 shots and had a  27-save shutout performance against the North Okanagan Knights. Against Revelstoke, Trzaska had a 38-save performance in their Game 1 win, 36-saves in the Game 4 win and a 48-save performance in the series clincher. Trzaska had a 1.87 GAA and .944 SP during the month. In the playoffs, Trzaska has 13 wins in 17 games with a 1.85 GAA and a .947 SP.
