McLeod joins teammate at ACHA’s Maryville University

Colton McLeod of the Revelstoke Grizzlies has committed to play for the Maryville University Saints, based in St. Louis, Ms in the American Collegiate Hockey Association this fall.

McLeod, 20, led the Grizzlies with 46 points in 42 games and hit the 20-goal mark for the first time in his three-year career.

“It’s extremely exciting as I wanted to pursue college hockey from the beginning,” said the Whistler native. “Having this opportunity is great, especially with my teammate Nathan White. It means a lot.”

The 6-3, 180-pound forward added another 15 points in 20 KIJHL Teck Cup games, helping the Grizzlies reach the Teck Cup Final. He won the league championship and Mowat Cup provincial championship with the Grizzlies last season.

McLeod improved during the season after elevating his work habits in practice. He credits the Grizzlies with helping him earn the opportunity with the Saints due to the coaching and talent he was surrounded by.

“My physical game developed and I improved my game sense – seeing the ice better,” said McLeod.

He is excited for his next chapter and looks to add strength to handle the stronger competition.
