Knights’ leader Jameson joins teammates at ACHA’s Drury University

Devin Jameson of the North Okanagan Knights (now Quesnel River Rush) will play for the Drury University Panthers in the American Collegiate Hockey Association this fall.

Jameson, 20, spent the majority of his junior career in the KIJHL with the Knights. He rejoined the organization in 2023-24 after playing 10 games for the Portage Terriers in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League to start the season. In 110 career regular season games, Jameson produced 112 points.

Jameson has decided to forego his final junior season with the River Rush to play with former Knights teammates Matthew Johnston, KT Walters and Ethan O’Rourke.

“We are all close, we might as well go to the same team and through the college experience together,” says Jameson. “I think it’s going to be a great experience. I think we got a pretty good team going down there with lots of good KIJHL guys committed there.”

Returning to the Knights gave Jameson a confidence boost as he was counted on as a “go-to-guy”. He was captain and improved with more puck touches. It was what he needed to improve and that confidence growth has allowed him to make the jump to college a year early. Jameson likes the fit with the Panthers because of the KIJHL players recruited to the program.

As he hopes to play a part in helping the Panthers win a championship, Jameson looks to earn a business degree. He’s hopeful his time with the Panthers leads to an opportunity to play pro hockey in Europe.

Jameson says the KIJHL is a great development league, especially for younger players to gain confidence.
