Kayde Kinaschuk (Columbia Valley Rockies), Scott Sinclair (Fernie Ghostriders) and Matteo Hueston (Castlegar Rebels) have been selected the Instat KIJHL 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending Feb. 5, 2023.
Kinaschuk – Top Forward – The Calgary, Alberta product registered six goals and four assists in three games for the Rockies. Kinaschuk had a goal and two assists in a 8-6 loss to Golden, then he had two goals, including the winner, and two assists in a 4-2 victory against Beaver Valley. On Sunday, he recorded his second hat-trick of the season in a 6-4 loss to Fernie. Kinaschuk is second on the Rockies with 63 points in 39 games, including 31 goals. He ranks fifth in the KIJHL in points.
Sinclair – Top Defenceman – The Fort McMurray, Alberta product had a goal and three assists in two games for the Ghostriders. Sinclair assisted on the winning goal in a 6-4 final against Creston Valley and added another assist, then scored the opening goal and added an assist in their 6-4 win against Columbia Valley. Sinclair is fourth on the Ghostriders with 33 points in 41 games and he has 13 goals. This is the second time Sinclair has been selected as the Top Defenceman.
Hueston – Top Goalie – The Edmonton, Alberta product earned two wins for the Rebels as he stopped 71 of 74 shots in two games for a 1.50 GAA and a .959 SP. Hueston had a 44-save shutout performance against Beaver Valley, then stopped 27 of 30 shots in a 5-3 victory over Grand Forks. Hueston now has four wins with a 2.91 GAA and a .921 SP.
