KIJHL Power Rankings Week 18 – (Jan. 23)

 

The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League completed its 18th week of regular season action for the 2022-23 season. The KIJHL Power Rankings highlights the top-five teams based on winning percentage, with various tie-breakers to help decide final positions.

Princeton Posse

Last Week: 1

Record: 26-5-3-3

The Posse won both their games last week, picking up a 6-1 win over Summerland and a 3-1 win over Kelowna. Peyton Trzaska and Nate Glenn each earned wins as they combined to turn aside 40 of 42 shots. Dayton Nelson led with four points. They have now won three games in a row. 

Columbia Valley Rockies

Last Week: 2

Record: 27-7-0-2

The Rockies won all three of their games last week as they defeated the Creston Valley Thunder Cats twice – 7-4 and 9-2, then the Kimberley Dynamiters 3-2 in OT in a key match as the two teams battle for first in the Eddie Mountain division. The Rockies have a two-point edge with one game in hand.

Revelstoke Grizzlies

Last Week: 4

Record: 25-5-3-4

The Grizzlies picked up three wins last week, putting them on a five-game winning streak. The week started with a 4-1 win over the Kamloops Storm, then a 5-2 win against the Grand Forks Border Bruins and finishing with a 5-2 win against the Chase Heat. Defenceman Brandon Gallo led the Grizzlies with four assists. Goalie Owen Albers was in goal for two of the three wins and stopped 55 of 58 shots.

Kimberley Dynamiters

Last Week: 3

Record: 25-8-2-2

The Dynamiters lost 3-2 in OT to the Rockies, then were defeated 2-1 by the Golden Rockets. Kade Leskosky, Ethan Bloomquist and Devin McNair scored goals in the two games.

Osoyoos Coyotes

Last Week: 5

Record: 23-8-3-1

The Coyotes won both their games last week, putting them on a four-game winning streak. The Coyotes defeated Kelowna 7-4 and Summerland 5-0. Jack Henderson led with three goals and six points in two games. Rhett Harkot earned his first KIJHL shutout with a 24-save performance.
