KIJHL opens its 54th season today

The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League is excited to kick off its 54th season today.

The league has seven games on its slate and each team will begin their journey during a 30-game regular season schedule. In order to meet the guidelines set forth by the B.C. Provincial Health Officer and Phase 3 of Viasport’s “Return to Sport” framework, KIJHL clubs have been placed into one of five cohorts. There will be a pair of four-team cohorts as well as a trio of three-team cohorts.

The first phase will go for six weeks, concluding on Dec. 19 and see the teams play 12 games.
