KIJHL alumni Justin Pogge and Harry Mahesh helped the Abbotsford Canucks become the Vancouver Canucks’ first affiliate to win the Calder Cup.
Mahesh is an assistant coach, while Pogge is a development and goaltending coach.
Pogge played in the KIJHL in 2002-03 with the Summerland Sting and had a .917 save percentage in 30 games. Mahesh played for the Osoyoos Storm in 2005-06. That season he registered 31 points in 50 regular season games, then added three points in nine playoff games.
Canucks goalie Arturs Silovs was named the Calder Cup Most Valuable Player, earning the Jack A. Butterfield Trophy, after posting a 16-7 record with a 2.01 goals against average and a .931 SP.
The Canucks finished fifth overall in the American Hockey League with a record of 44-24-2-2.
