Smithers native and former 100 Mile House Wrangler Luke Santerno has been named the Driscoll Skating & Skills Player of the Week by ECAC Hockey, for the period ending Jan. 17.

Santerno (Gr.) played a key role in Clarkson’s huge offensive weekend, scoring or assisting on five of the Golden Knights 13 goals. He recorded a four point (2-2) game in Saturday’s 8-2 win over Union, and found the back of the net again in a 5-0 win over RPI on Sunday. It was Santerno’s best weekend in Green and Gold, as he nearly doubled his season point total in the two games.

In 22 games, Santerno has seven goals and 11 points. He joined the Golden Knights from Bentley University, where he put up 105 points in 123 games.

Santerno played for the Wranglers in 2013-14 recording 24 goals and 45 points in 47 games. He added another seven points in eight playoff games. That season, he played five games with the BCHL’s Merritt Centennials. He spent three seasons in the BCHL with the Cowichan Valley Capitals and Trail Smoke Eaters.
