Another Jones joins NCAA bench

In early August, the Holy Cross Crusaders announced the hiring of Kellen Jones as an assistant coach. Kellen is the son of Beaver Valley Nitehawks head coach-general manager Terry Jones, who he played for to start his junior career.
A two-year captain at Quinnipiac, Jones finished his career with the Bobcats with 127 career points, a trip to the Frozen Four, and a National Championship appearance during his four-year career. Following his time in Hamden, Jones played eight seasons of professional hockey, including stops in the AHL with Oklahoma City, Bridgeport, Bakersfield, Utica, and Worcester, and three seasons in Europe. Jones is a 2010 seventh-round pick by the Edmonton Oilers.
“I’m excited to have Kellen join our staff,” said Holy Cross head coach Bill Riga in a team statement. “He has always been a winner at every level. His hockey IQ, work ethic, passion and attention to detail will be a great fit for us. His ability to coach, not only by words, but from playing experience will be invaluable to our players. Most importantly, he is a first-class person, from a great family, who will bring immediate value to Holy Cross. I am happy to welcome Kellen, his wife Gina and his children Amelia and Anthony to the community.”
Since 2010, Jones has been the owner and manager of Champions Hockey School and Academy, a full day camp for athletes 5 – 25, which coaches on and off-ice skills.
Kellen’s brother Connor joined the Princeton Tigers as an assistant coach last season. They finished 12-14-3 and lost to Brown in the opening round of the ECAC championship.
