Eagles Announce Hockey Ops Changes

The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League’s Sicamous Eagles are pleased to announce the hiring of new head coach Nick Deschenes and general manager Tyler Moore.

Nick joins the Eagles organization with experience as a head coach in the BCHL with the Trail Smoke Eaters and in the KIJHL with the Grand Forks Border Bruins and Summerland Steam. He brings the discipline and commitment to improving players through structured living and fitness. He is also a former player in the Alberta Junior Hockey League and in the NCAA at Yale University, and played professionally in the American Hockey League (AHL), East Coast Hockey League (ECHL), DEL (Germany), Italy Serie A, and in the Netherlands.

In addition to Nick on the bench, the Eagles have also contracted Tyler Moore to step into the General Manager role.

Nick and Tyler will be taking over for the departing Coach Gerald Bouchard and GM Ron Sleeman.

“Ron and Coach Bouchard provided a calming influence and guidance to the team, helping build what we have here now,” says Eagles president Sheila Devost. “The Sicamous Eagles thank both of them for their time and commitment.”

Deschenes will step behind the Eagles’ bench for the first time when they host the Chase Heat on Friday, January 14th.
