Dynamiters’ Davies commits to ACHA’s Panthers

Luke Davies of the Kimberley Dynamiters has committed to play for the Drury University Panthers in the American Collegiate Hockey Association next fall.

Davies, 19, led the Dynamiters with 58 points (25-33) in 36 games, which ranked him 13th among the KIJHL’s league leaders. The Calgary native then added 12 points (4-8) in 16 playoff games, helping the Dynamiters capture the KIJHL Championship.

I’m very happy with my time in Kimberley and the KIJHL. It helped me grow as a player and person,” said Davies, who played in 77 career regular season games and had 114 points (54-60).

Davies credited the Dynamiters for earning this opportunity by receiving “meaningful ice time in all situations to showcase my talent.”

“I improved my poise and confidence holding onto the puck, plus the consistency in my play was also something that improved a lot,” he said.

In 36 career playoff games, the 6-0, 185-pound forward had 14 goals and 35 points.

“Luke developed into an elite two-way player during his two seasons here and earned this great opportunity,” says Dynamiters head coach-general manager Derek Stuart. “We are proud of Luke and very excited for him.”

Davies is the fifth KIJHL player that the Panthers have recruited this spring. Under KIJHL alumnus Jeremy Law as head coach, the Panthers continue to tap into the league for talent.
