Dynamiters alum Reid to lead Castleton Spartans as co-captain

Kimberley Dynamiters alum Cam Reid heads into his junior (third) season with the Vermont State University Castleton Spartans as co-captain for the 2025-26 season.

The Spartans NCAA D3 program made the announcement Tuesday on their Instagram account. Their leadership group was initially announced in a release on Oct. 16 as the Little East Conference announced its 2025-26 Men’s Ice Hockey Preseason Coaches’ Poll, projecting the Spartans to tie for sixth place among 10 teams.

“I am very honored to be named a captain of the great group we have this year and look to push everyone and the team to its best, as it comes with great responsibility,” says Reid. “I look forward to building a strong relationship with every person in the organization, as well as lead by example with effort and attitude to get the best out of everyone.”
Reid strongly believes in the group they have this year and he hopes they can grow to take a huge step forward for Castleton’s hockey program.
“I am feeling confident with my personal game and look to do whatever is called for in order for the team to succeed,” he adds.

A defenceman, Reid was fifth on the Spartans in points last season with four goals and 13 points in 23 games. He also had 67 faceoff wins when playing as a forward. In 49 career games, the Kimberley native has 29 points.

In an article on the KIJHL website last season, Reid mentioned that his time in Kimberley helped his transition to college hockey because his final two seasons as a 19- and 20-year-old were crucial.

“The coaches taught me a lot — not just about hockey, but life too. They helped me mature, taught me how to carry myself, and just made a big impact on who I am today.”

In 82 career regular season games with the Dynamiters (2018-23), Reid had 26 goals, 56 assists for 82 points. He added another 32 points in 39 KIJHL playoff games.
