Coyotes name Playfair as Head Coach & GM

The Osoyoos Coyotes are proud to announce the signing of Jackson Playfair as their new Head Coach & General Manager.

Playfair has been with RINK Kelowna the past two seasons where he served as Head Coach for the U17 and U17 Prep programs.  His team won the CSSHL U17 Prep Division 1 Playoffs in the 2024-25 season.  Prior to joining RINK, Playfair worked as an Assistant Coach with the men’s hockey program at the University of British Columbia.  In his first season with the Thunderbirds, the team finished second in the Canada West Division and qualified for the USports National Championships.

Before beginning his coaching career, the Fort St. James, B.C. native spent three seasons in the Western Hockey League with the Spokane Chiefs and Tri-City Americans.  After his WHL career, Playfair attended Dalhousie University in Halifax where he played for the men’s hockey team from 2015-2019 and studied Business Management.

Upon completion of his collegiate education, Playfair finished his playing career with the Orlando Solar Bears of the ECHL during the 2018-19 season.

“I could not be more excited for the opportunity to join the Coyotes and bring our family into the Osoyoos community,” says Playfair. “The team is looking to bring new energy into the Sun Bowl Arena, and I believe this community deserves someone who is going to put in the time and energy needed to bring an enjoyable, hard-working product to the ice.”

“With the recent announcement of Tier 1 status, I truly believe the league is taking steps in the right direction.  The chance to come in and build something that the community and fans can be proud of was something I could not turn down.”

Playfair will be working beside Steve Harrison, who is entering his third season as an Assistant Coach with the Coyotes.

Jackson is joined on his move to Osoyoos by his wife Jessica, their two children Calihan (5) and Cove (3) and family dog Winston.
