Spokane Braves alumnus Bear Hughes is enjoying a stellar rookie pro season with the South Carolina Stingrays in the ECHL, the affiliate of the NHL’s Washington Capitals.

Hughes leads the Stingrays with 25 points in 22 games and has 12 goals, ranking him second on the team. His 25 points rank him 15th in the ECHL. As of Dec. 20, Hughes had six goals and 16 points in his last 12 games. Two of his goals are winners, he has an OT tally and has opened the scoring twice for the Stingrays.

Clay Stevenson, another KIJHL alumnus who plays for the Stingrays, was reassigned to the ECHL from the Capitals’ AHL affiliate, the Hershey Bears. With the Bears, he appeared in three games and posted a perfect 3-0 record along with a save percentage of 0.924 and a 1.96 goals against average.
