Berry, Kilbrai join KIJHL League Office

The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League is pleased to announce the hiring of Mark Berry as Social Media Coordinator and Tim Kilbrai as Hockey Operations Coordinator.

Berry is well-known throughout junior hockey circles in B.C. as a social media presence, podcaster and broadcaster. He is the longtime play-by-play voice of the VIJHL’s Campbell River Storm, has hosted podcasts for the VIJHL and BCIHL, and has provided extensive coverage of recent Cyclone Taylor Cup tournaments. In his new role, Berry will help manage the KIJHL’s social media channels and produce the weekly “Top Shelf” podcast that includes news and interviews with KIJHL players, coaches and broadcasters.

“We’re very excited to have Mark join our communications team,” says KIJHL Commissioner Jeff Dubois. “He has built a reputation as one of the foremost voices covering junior hockey in Western Canada, and his expertise with social media and podcasts are going to be a huge boost connecting KIJHL fans with the league and their favourite teams.”

Kilbrai brings years of experience as an off-ice official with the Abbotsford Canucks, Vancouver Giants and Chilliwack Chiefs to the newly created role of Hockey Operations Coordinator. His primary duties will involve managing the KIJHL’s online Gamesheet and LeagueStat platforms, and working with the league’s member clubs and their staff to ensure best practices are met around scorekeeping and live game scoring.

“Tim has an extensive background working with AHL, WHL and BCHL organizations and he’s been a part of major events like the 2010 Winter Olympic Games and the 2018 World Junior Hockey Championships,” says Dubois. “His knowledge and attention to detail will benefit our team staff and volunteers and add a valuable resource as we look to professionalize our off-ice operations and processes.”
