Sicamous Eagles captain Alex Smith has committed to the UVic Vikes of the B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League for the 2024-25 season.
Smith had 31 points in 43 regular season games and added four points in seven KIJHL Teck Cup playoff games. This past season, the High River, Alta. product developed a greater sense of awareness and vision to excel during the pace of play.
“Being a part of the Eagles organization couldn’t have prepared me more for the path after junior hockey,” says Smith. “I owe a lot of my success to the coaching staff, but also the Sicamous community and the volunteers. From the billet families, to rink officials and those who were able to take care of all of the behind the scenes tasks for us to focus on hockey.”
Eagles former assistant general manager Rob Sutherland says “it truly has been a pleasure being a part of Alex’s growth on and off the ice. We wish him the best at UVic, let’s go Vikes.”
