Cole Fournier of the Fernie Ghostriders has committed to the University of Victoria Vikes in the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League.
Fournier, 20, of Fort Saskatchewan, Alta. had 26 points in 43 KIJHL regular season games this season. He added 13 points in 21 Teck Cup playoff games as he helped the Ghostriders advance to the Teck Cup Final. In his last season with the Ghostriders, the 6-1, 175-pound forward made strides offensively, especially in the playoffs.
“I was ready for any situation that my team needed me for and continued being a factor defensively, while leading by example as a two-way player,” says Fournier. “Fernie has helped me over the last three years to improve my game and mold me into the player I am now. My experience will be one that I won’t ever forget and I can thank my teammates and coaching staff for that.”
Fournier is excited about the opportunity to play for UVIC and continue his career as well as the academic opportunity the school offers.
