Ian George of the Quesnel River Rush has committed to play for the University of Flint-Michigan Wolverines in the American Collegiate Hockey Association Division 1 next fall.
The Beaumont, Alta., native had 16 goals and 32 points in 44 games and added two points in five playoff games. George’s 32 points ranked him fifth among all KIJHL defencemen and led the River Rush blueline.
“We love the two-way game that Ian George brings to the table,” said Wolverines head coach Nick Karstens. “We see him as being a player that will lead our powerplay and play in all situations.”
In 122 career regular season games, George had 31 goals and 79 points with 127 penalty minutes over three seasons. George led the River Rush blueline in points twice.
The Wolverines were 11-24-0 last season and placed fifth among seven teams in the Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League.
