ACHA’s Wolverines like “hockey IQ” River Rush’s Unrau brings

Reece Unrau of the Quesnel River Rush has committed to play for the University of Flint-Michigan Wolverines in the American Collegiate Hockey Association Division 1 next fall.

The Winnipeg, Man., native was second on the River Rush blue line in points with 21 in 42 games, and scored a goal in six playoff games.

“We feel that with his physical play, defensive awareness, and hockey IQ, Reece will really help secure our own end and be able to contribute on the offensive side as well,” said Wolverines head coach Nick Karstens.

In two KIJHL seasons, Unrau played 76 regular season games and registered nine goals and 25 points. In 10 career playoff games, Unrau had two points.

The Wolverines were 11-24-0 last season and placed fifth among seven teams in the Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League.
