Bruins Sign New Head Coach
- Submitted by
Emery Olauson, 33, is a native of Canmore, Alberta. Emery played juniors for the Weyburn RedWings and Estevan Bruins of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League before playing in the USHL. Following his junior stint he played two seasons of CIS hockey for the University of St. Thomas Tommies in Fredericton, NB before turning pro and joining the Lubbock CottonKings of the Central Hockey League. He had a nine year pro playing career, including four seasons in the CHL and five seasons in the Southern Professional Hockey League. In his 2011-2012 season, while playing right wing for the Knoxville Ice Bears, Olauson tallied 44 goals and 44 assists in just 56 games, tying the teams all time record for goals scored in a single season.

Olauson's coaching resume began as the Assistant Coach of the Flin Flon Bombers of the SJHL in 2013-2014, before taking over the reigns mid-season as Head Coach for the SPHL's Fayetteville FireAntz where he just completed the 2014-2015 season.
Olauson and girlfriend Lauren are excited for the move from North Carolina and look forward to joining the community of Grand Forks.
